Travel to Swansea from Cardiff Airport

By Train

There are two ways to go from Cardiff Airport to Swansea: via Cardiff Rhoose Rail Station or Cardiff Central Rail Station. Cardiff Rhoose Rail Station (2 changes, around 1 hour journey) This is the nearest train station to the Cardiff airport. Regular buses (905, X91) run from Cardiff airport (see below). Rhoose Rail Station connects to Bridgend Rail station where you can change to Swansea. Train journey takes about 30 mins to reach Bridgend and another 30-40 mins to reach Swansea. Train tickets to and from Swansea are around 15 (Open return, prices vary depending on ticket types, how early you book etc). Train time and fares can be found at ArrivaTrain/FirstGreatWestern.

905: timetable (last bus 2251, Sunday 2151)
X91: timetable (last bus 1841, not available on Sunday, goes to Rhoose Town, and requires additional 4 mins walk to the station, right image)

If you miss the last bus to Rhoose station, you may still be able to catch the last train by taking a taxi (around 7).

Cardiff Central Station (1 change, around 1.5 hour journey)



There are regular buses service (X91 or X5 [Sun only], journey time 35 mins) between airport and Cardiff Central Rail Station. There are regular direct trains that connect Cardiff and Swansea. Train journey takes around 1 hour. Train tickets to and from Swansea are around 15 (Open return, prices vary depending on ticket types, how early you book etc). By Bus

There are two buses that connect Cardiff and Swansea (Quadrant Bus Station). You can first takes bus (X91 or X5 [Sun only]) from Cardiff airport to Cardiff Central Bus/Rail Station (see information above), and then takes either National Express/Greyhound buses to reach Swansea. Bus journey time from Cardiff is around 1 hour.
