State-of-the-Art Reports (STARS)

Call for State of the Art Reports

For the first time, EuroVis 2014 features a State-of-the-Art Report (STAR) track. State-of-the-Art Reports (STARs) are intended to provide up-to-date and comprehensive surveys on topics of interest to the visualization research community. We encourage the submission of STARs on topics that have not yet been covered in any recent previous STAR. We welcome submissions that introduce emerging technologies, as well as proposals on more traditional visualization topics. We also welcome contributions from related disciplines and application areas demonstrating contributions to or benefits from the area of visualization including, but not limited to: Visual Computing, Computer Graphics, Human-Computer Interaction, Photogrammetry, Virtual Reality, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Psychology, Geography, Chemistry, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Data Analysis, Computational Sciences, Medicine, Biology, Economy, Politology, etc.

Submission Details

Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of the contribution quality and topic suitability for presentation in a STAR format, the past experience and qualifications of the authors and the overall balance in the program. A STAR submission should be an almost complete version of the planned STAR, outlining the topic, documenting its relation and relevance to the visualization community, including a planned table of contents and a major subset of the targeted literature references, as well as including brief biographies of the authors, demonstrating their qualification to produce the proposed STAR. Such a proposal should be 10-20 pages (at most) in length, including references; submissions can also include supplementary material.

Open Peer Review.

EuroVis 2014 STAR submissions will undergo a one-stage review process. The STAR track encourages an open peer review process, meaning transparency and disclosure of identities of authors and of those reviewing the submitted proposal.

After the conference authors of the best STARs will be encouraged to subsequently submit the STAR as a regular contribution to Computer Graphics Forum journal.

For any question concerning STAR submissions please contact the STARs co-chairs by e-mail: eurovis-stars "at"
